Screen grab from Fro Knows Photo 1st April video.
I think the bar for photography Youtubers is set so low these days that nothing shocks me anymore. The above thumbnail was used by Youtuber Fro Knows Photo for his 1st April "funny" video. Well, it turned out that the video wasn't funny at all, nor is the thumbnail with the caption "Nikon PE-N15" (an alternative way of writing "Nikon penis") under the MB-D18 multi battery power pack meant for the D850 camera. Even worse: He's trying to make it look like he's holding one in his hands and pretending to be shocked. Now imagine this: His channel has nearly 1 million subscribers! Yet another proof that garbage usually floats on the water, and you have to dive deeper to find a pearl. One million is almost as many as Tony Northrup's channel, who has recently published a controversial video on Steve McCurry, then deleted thousands of critical comments. That is far worse than tasteless thumbnails, however both are proof that it's better to stay away from popular photography Youtube channels. Check out my recent post where I listed several reasons why.

How do I contact you privately? I have proof that a well known YouTube photographer is a complete fraud. Not fro but someone unrelated.
ReplyDeleteThere's no way to contact me privately, I don't share my email. You can comment here. Since you're anonymous, do let us know who you have in mind and why you believe he was a fraud.
DeleteAre any of the photographers listed here: Tony & Chelsea, Jason Lanier or Ken Wheeler?
DeleteYou mean on my list of reasons why you should not watch popular photography Youtubers? Yes, some are listed, but more as examples to highlight the tricks they use.
DeleteYou don't own/run the server here, so nothing is truly anonymous, even behind a VPN. I have essentially found proof a photographer who claims to be broke, has quite a lot of money. I've found his second address, etc. I have also found evidence that he was banned from amazon affiliate and I believe that is why he is anti affiliate linking. In some of his early videos (search the videos by the earliest), he tries to sell a book. In his latest videos, he is against selling and says he has never tried to sell anything.
DeleteI basically have enough evidence to destroy his entire online scam, and so I cannot simply post it in a comment here.
Wait, there are some who aren't total frauds?
ReplyDeleteDisgusting clickbait. Watching his video is such a massive waste of time. He's almost worse than Tony.
ReplyDeleteI've given up with YouTube photography videos, at some point you have to actually go out and take your own photos and find your own style, learn from your mistakes. Most photography channels are turning into advertisements and they will do or say anything to hook your attention (and money). Views are like currency on YouTube, most of these channels would probably fizzle out if people stopped paying attention.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. These Youtubers are able to generate a lot of money through begging for donations, hot links, and not very transparent cooperation with brands. What they don't do is actually take decent photos.
DeleteAgree, no more photographers channels. Enough for me.
