Nikon Rumors continues to steal content

August 6, 2018

A short while ago I wrote about the hypocrisy of Nikon Rumors blog. The author was complaining, that other sites don't credit him, at the same time he's doing exactly the same thing (he reposted the images I leaked without crediting me), and not only that, he's much worse, he even watermarks pictures that don't belong to him. Here is yet another example of that today:

Nikon Rumors stole those photos from a leaked ad that popped up on Weibo starring Dilraba (迪丽热巴), an Uyghur actress and model, who has worked with Nikon before (she made an ad for the D750 for the Chinese market). Here are the original leaked photos posted on Dilraba's Twitter fan page.

I really don't understand, why is it so hard to link to the original source and not watermark images you don't own. You're into photography, allegedly? Or is stealing images how you get your kicks, Peter?

  1. Hes a schmuck....he steals others photos, WATERMARKS them as his own, and uses that content to suck in viewers so he can pimp and shill via his affiliate links.
Two other RUMORS SITES are on his tail.
In fact, i got the info about his latest misdeeds this morning FROM A RUMOR SITE that personally emailed me the info!

    1. What rumor site mailed you the info? Why would rumor sites mail YOU information? Who are you? Are you important?

  2. Nikon Rumors is a thief.. You really need to just watermark the hell out of the pics before you upload it.. He watermarks them after he steals them.. SHAMEFUL.

    1. I think thief is a too strong word. Maybe in the EU you cannot reupload a photo that someone else "owns" (the creator, the owner), but Nikon Rumors is not loyal to any country, he lives on the internet. Actually he meant no harm, he just hopes people would come to his blog, because many times big websites don't give him credit, which is not fair. So he wants more exposure to grow his readership and get us some discount offers. He's a nice guy.

  3. Why do some people do that? not only do they take photos from others and slap on their own watermark, but they slap it on over the subject of the image.

Watermarks in general, detract from the image, as it is adding an unneeded, distracting, and unrelated element to the photo (breaks the immersion into the story the image is conveying).

    1. The guy behind Nikon Rumors is a decent guy. You may feel he steals those pics with the watermarks, but in reality he's just trying get credit for himself, because he's working hard on growing his blog, and giving us daily information on Nikon. He also helps giving us some benefits, like today he posted: "Today only: 15% off eBay coupon code (up to $100)" - These are special deals only for Nikon Rumor readers. You're the reason we can't have nice things.

Sure, you may feel watermarking a photo you don't own is "stealing", but in reality it drives traffic to his blog, so he can offer us discounts. He's a decent guy, he means no harm. He's decent enough to be upfront about it, and he treats people with respect. He never attacked other bloggers and Youtubers for example. This "Taipei Geek" does it. Shame on him!
