Jason Lanier removed as Rotolight 'Master of Light'

July 3, 2019

Jason Lanier, former Sony Alpha ambassador, has been removed as Rotolight ambassador. If you click on his Rotolight ambassadors page www.rotolight.com/ambassadors/jason-lanier/, it says "Page Not Found". This comes after several former models and assistants came out against Lanier alleging sexual misconduct and abuse (touching, groping, harassment, salacious comments), as well as violating work place ethics and not honoring the payment that was agreed upon. Just to reimphasize: These are allegations, and he is innocent until proven guilty. With that said, at least 7 women have spoken out so far (as of July 2, 2019), and more women are said to speak out against him in the near future. In addition, an FBI investigation against him is allegedly ongoing since May 2018.

Rotolight's statement on Jason Lanier

Rotolight published this statement on their Facebook Page announcing the end of the cooperation between them and Jason Lanier.

Additional screen grabs

Below are some screen grabs that show the extent of the cooperation between Lanier and Rotolight in the past. There are still several videos available on Rotolight's Youtube channel, like this one for example. The Rotolight page on Lanier's website is still up as well together with a sales promotion, indicating that the removal is still very fresh.

  1. I'm glad he is being taken down for this, the allegations aside which is it's own issue that needs a court of law to address, i am sick of shills and average skilled photographers making money 'touring' and 'teaching' when they have no literal right.

His work is so bad, or at best average/ok that this is welcome news. I do hope though in terms of the other issue that the truth will out and those that are effected are supported and/or vindicated.

Ken Wheeler also needs a good taking down a peg or three, that guy is so full of his own ego and belief of his superior intelligence. He is a pure cartoon and needs to stop his drivel, lies and thievery.

  2. On the blog "Photo Chirp" the author alleges that you have misrepresented the Rotolight statement by using the word "end" instead of "suspend". The author posted several screen shots alleging that you are "in it for the drama" while he is seeking "truth". I am not saying this is what you did, it's just a heads-up from my side.

    1. LOL, the whole statement is posted in this article in its entirety, nothing is doctored. "End" and "suspend" can be interchangeable terms, it's just semantics for the sake of argument. Some people have a very boring life indeed. He said he spent days and hours researching his "Lanier" article only to remove it at the end and write about me. LOL! This shows what a person he is. He keeps coming to my blog and lecturing me about semantics, yet he's not able to maintain his own blog. Sad.

  3. End is an absolute -- it is final -- go read a dictionary; suspend isn't, hence the pre-fix "su". Please learn the English language before criticising me. I was told his sponsorship would allegedly be RESUMED and that's why it's important to understand the difference; it's far more than just semantics. Why do you think he's written comments on his instagram -- https://www.instagram.com/p/B3c7fhKFgP7/ -- where he's said things like "IF you've been waiting to get your hands on @rotolight gear, trust me, there's never been a better time at better prices than what ***we*** will be unleashing very soon." You'd have known all of this if you spoke with me normally instead of attacking me. Regardless of what you've published in addition to that comment, the comment in itself was an inaccurate misquote. Commenting on an inaccurate misquote isn't a personal attack at you. Please stop taking it as one.

My page, at the time of you publishing your comment, was live; moreover, I did not research anything purely for the article and I did not take down my article because of the reasons you think. A lot of my research was to assist the FBI -- https://imgur.com/8P6dvcZ.

You're out of your depth; you made a mistake and you've shown you aren't interested in the truth. You are only interested in being spiteful. We all make mistakes from time to time; some of the content on this site I agree with; I don't hate you and there's no reason for us to be enemies.

Please draw a line under this and stop attacking me. I am quite sure you won't, which will further prove my point. I hope you prove me wrong.

I don't wish to engage with you further. You can delete my comment.
