The Nikon Z fc is one of the most popular cameras of 2021, and by far more important than the likes of Sony Alpha A1 which delivered some amazing specs, but is way too expensive for your average consumer. The Z fc with its affordable price of around 1000 USD is a camera for everybody, and offers an amazing digital and analog experience. Much better than Fuji, there's no doubt about it. But what is currently missing are some amazing native compact manual lenses that would complement the camera, however there is an alternative available: ZEISS ZM lenses (lenses that are made for Leica M mount). I decided to create a list of best lenses that could be adapted to Nikon Z fc, and I believe they need to be silver in order to complement it.

The weight of Nikon mirrorless vs Nikon DSLR

 

A lot of people say they switched to mirrorless to save weight and bulk, but that doesn't always seem to make sense these days. I looked into some data and compared Nikon's Z kit with a similar or somewhat equivalent Nikon F kit. You might be surprised, because the weight differences are not so much different.

What I wanted to do is compare cameras with a similar form factor, similar sensor, and comparable lenses. Battery life is also very important to me. All these factors were considered for this comparison. You might agree or disagree, but this is how I feel the two systems should be compared.

If you're a Nikon shooter like me, you probably noticed the quite pronounced anti-Nikon bias on Youtube by some large photography channels (for example this one). Especially in the past 2 years when Nikon entered the full frame mirrorless market with their Z6 and Z7 cameras, the negativity has increased significantly. At the same time I have also noticed that there was an increase of quality photography Youtube channels that love to shoot with Nikon, and talk about their Nikon experience. For most of them photography takes the center stage, and a lot of them are working pros. Some others are doing both, talking about photography as well as Nikon gear, offering useful tips, tricks and tutorials. And most of all, they all seem like very nice people. There is no click-bait or drama on their channel, most of it is really good value content. Please check them out, and follow them, if you like them. I'm a big CASIO G-Shock MUDMASTER fan, and also an owner of one model since 2018 (the GG-1000RG-1A). One of my most popular posts on this blog is my comparison between the original MUDMASTER GWG-1000 and GG-1000 Series, but when I published it in 2017, there were only 2 Series of this watch. Meanwhile the MUDMASTER line expanded to 4 different series in total, and several special edition models. There are over 30 models on my list, all of them launched between 2015 and 2020. CASIO is really very productive, but that provides a challenge for fans to understand all the differences. Check each series first, and then an overview of the key features at the bottom.

I love German cars and I've already posted 3 lists featuring Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, where I listed all their sedans by price. Today I want to list sedans of all main German car manufacturers, so besides the aforementioned 3, I am adding Porsche, Volkswagen and Opel. Opel doesn't sell in North America, but they are legendary in Germany and the rest of Europe (in the UK they are branded under Vauxhall). All the models are sorted by the price.

After publishing my list of Mercedes-Benz sedans and BMW sedans a few days ago, I decided to make another list with the 3rd premium brand out of Germany: Audi. This would be my 3rd favorite car brand when it comes to sedan offerings. I always loved the elegant Audi design, however just like Mercedes with some models and BMW with most models, Audi's also getting worse, especially when it comes to their most affordable executive sedan, the Audi A4. Without a doubt, the Mercedes C-Class is way more appealing than the A4, however I still think the BMW Series 3 is the worst of the bunch.

After publishing my list of Mercedes-Benz sedans a few days ago, I decided to make another list with their main competitor BMW. After Mercedes-Benz, this would be my second favorite brand, however some of the recent designs are very underwhelming, especially the latest Series 3, which got worse over the years. I do like the Series 2, especially the interior. The BMW interior design overall is better than the one by Mercedes in my opinion.

A lot of you who follow this blog think I'm just an Apple, Nikon and G-Shock geek, because that's what I was mostly posting about so far, but I am actually also a car nerd. My favorite brand is Mercedes-Benz, and my dream car is the CLA model. I'm not driving in Taipei, because parking space is scarce, foreign cars are expensive, and the Metro is really good, but I had plans to buy my dream car once I move back home. Then came this pesky virus, and thwarted all my plans (and probably yours, too). So I decided to make a little list with all the Mercedes-Benz sedans, that is passenger cars with 4 passenger doors and a trunk which are not Sports Utility Vehicles. There are 7 models by Mercedes-Benz that fit this description.

List of all Nikon F to Z-mount adapters

I'm currently in a research phase regarding getting a Nikon Z6 (or a Nikon Z50) with an F-mount to Z-mount adapter to create a very light and portable kit with my old manual lens collection which I plan to mainly use for street photography. The good thing is that since Nikon launched its latest mirrorless system a lot of 3rd party adapter manufacturers launched their solutions, too. My goal is to find cheap and good quality options of adapting F-mount lenses to the Z-mount. These usually don't come with any electronics and are called "dummy adapters". You have to change the aperture manually, and mainly use the manual mode (which is my preferred mode anyway) to operate the camera. I would like to get the FTZ adapter by Nikon, too, but I would use it mainly with my Nikkor G lenses (and some manual lenses with the CPU on board). But before I invest in such setup which ain't cheap, I will borrow the Z6 and just buy a dummy adapter to test it out. Once I do that I will share my experience on this blog.

List of all Voigtländer SL lenses for Nikon F-mount

Voigtländer is one of my favorite lens brands after Nikon. I bought my first Voigtländer lens in 2015, it was the Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL II N which I paired along with my Nikon D7100. Shortly after that I also bought the Color-Skopar 28mm f/2.8 Aspherical SL II and I love both ever since. I loved the all metal design, that made these lenses look premium as compared to Nikon's F-Mount G lenses. The only downside was these lenses are manual focus only, but I was willing to accept that in exchange for a great built quality, great image quality and a smaller foot print. Voigtländer SL lenses (lenses specifically designed for SLR cameras) are optically superb, but they're currently produced and marketed by the Japanese company Cosina. While Voigtländer had a heavy focus on SL lenses in the early 2000s, as of today their main focus are lenses for Sony's E-mount. At its peak there were 10 SL lenses for Nikon's SL mount, but right now there are only two in production. Lenses for other SLR mounts by companies like Pentax and Canon are completely discontinued. There's a vibrant market for second hand lenses on eBay, so it's still possible to get minty versions of most lenses listed in this post, especially from Japan. Due to great quality and durability, these lenses are still looking great today and will be for the foreseeable time.

This list will be constantly updated, and it's meant to serve as a helping tool for those like me who are planning to enter the Z system. The lenses are sorted by the widest focal length. If the widest focal length is same, those lenses will be sorted by the widest aperture. All lenses are displayed with the relative size of each other, so it's easy to compare the size difference by just comparing two images.

Another year is over, and it's time to look into the top 100 photography Youtube channels of 2018. Who made it on top this time? Who slipped? Who surprised? You will learn everything here. I have been doing this in 2016 and 2017 already, you can compare this list with the old one. For the record, I check this data one by one by going to the channel's About page, I do it within one day, so that it's a fair sample of the current situation. Things can quickly change on the internet, so if you're reading this a couple of days, weeks, or month later and realize that your channel has been moving higher, there's nothing I can do. iPhone 8 and 8 Plus carrier prices in Taiwan

The iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus will be available in Taiwan for sale on September 22nd, 2017, that is 4 days from now. The carrier prices have just been published in the Taiwanese media, and I have made a brief overview of these prices on the following 5 carriers (listed from the largest to the smallest): Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far East One, Taiwan Star, and Asia Pacific Telecom. I will analyze who offers the best deal in a separate post.

List of G-Shock square watches

No doubt Casio had a winner when they created the "Gravitational Shock" watch in 1983. The long name was soon changed to "G-Shock", and the rest is history. Designed by the Japanese engineer Kikuo Ibe, his goal was to "have a 10-year battery life, be water resistant to 10 bar, and survive a 10m fall onto a hard surface." That's how the DW-5000C was born in the early 1980s, and officially launched in April 1983. Today G-Shocks are a huge fashion icon, and popular all over the world. What inspired my post was this post post by PetaPixel named 13 Photography Channels You Should Follow from August 2016, that was expanded to 23 channels, and created a lot of buzz. Since I'm a very systematic guy, I went further, and searched Youtube for many days to come up with the Top 100 Photography Youtube channels of 2016 in English language.

I made this overview of all Nikon F-Mount lenses, because I have just recently switched to Nikon, and I'm trying to find the best Nikkor or 3rd party lenses for my new camera. I knew that Nikon has a huge native lens selection (as compared to Sony's measly one), but I never expected it to be so amazingly huge.
