Yesterday Apple revealed the new iPad Pro 11" and 12.9", with ultra thin bezels, a new more powerful processor, Face ID, and USB-C. As a big iPad fan for years, I'm naturally very stoked to see this product come out, but when I saw the price tags, I almost got a stroke. I started to compile a price list, because it's so difficult to get a real overview on Apple's website. Let us first look at the prices in Taiwan (in NTD), then the same Taiwan prices converted to USD (at an exchange rate of 1 USD = 31 NTD), and then lastly the same prices as listed on Apple's US website.

The new iPad Pro 11" is 150 USD more expensive than the 10.5" when it was launched. The new Apple Pencil is $20 more expensive and the Smart Keyboard $30 more expensive. It's really difficult for me to imagine the iPad Pro without the Smart Keyboard, and I need at least 256GB of storage, so that will cost me over $1100. I currently own the iPad Pro 10.5" with the Smart Keyboard as well as the Pencil. I really have to think very well, if I want to sell-off all that and buy the new iPad Pro 11". I am tempted, but I kind of don't need it (it's just a want). Let's see if it goes away.
UPDATE: Apple launched a new refreshed version of iPad Pro in March 2020. Here is my post with the updated prices.
Hello there, do you have a guess on when will the new iPad be available in Taiwan? It's been weeks since its release :(
ReplyDeleteI asked about it at the Apple Store at Taipei 101, they told me probably around 2 months later than the US like last time, but they are not sure about the exact date.
DeleteThanks a lot for the info!!
