The new Taipei Apple store in Xinyi opened last Saturday, and I went to have a look. This is the second Apple Store in Taipei (and Taiwan), the first one is found inside Taipei 101’s shopping mall. While that one looks like a typical mall store, the new Xinyi A13 is its own building, and the piece of land (known as Xinyi A13) is one of the most expensive bits of downtown Taipei. The other difference is the size. The new store is bigger, because it consists of 2 floors. The ground floor is an eye-catching glass building, while the lower level looks a bit like the old store: It has an area for various presentations (the Forum), and another hands-on area. I like the design, and I think this will become a very popular spot in Taipei (Taiwanese are crazy about iPhones, iPads and Macs).
The new Apple Store in Taipei.
The outside
A lot of people were taking images for instagram.
Here's an uncle taking an image of people taking an image.
The Apple logo is prominently displayed.
These wooden panels make the building look cozy.
Young Taiwanese flocking into the new Apple Store.
The ground floor
Hands-on experience on the first floor.
The lower level
More interesting and way more crowded is the lower level.
The Forum.
The hands-on area.
New MacBook Pros.
New iPhones. Check out the prices in Taiwan.
A closer look.
My next target purchase: The large iPad Pro.
Dongle jungle.
Busy Apple clerks.
More and more people flocked in.
Busy day.
Sitting around.
Time to rest.
The conclusion
The Xinyi A13 Apple Store is definitely a unique building in that area where tall buildings and skyscrapers dominate the skyline. It will be interesting to see, if this will be a long term home for Apple, because the store is a bit hidden and at the back of the main commercial area in the Xinyi district. I will definitely revisit, when I buy my next iPad Pro.
