The Apple event is over and the new iPhone 12 models will be available in November 2020. This time they were named iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. Both series have 2 editions. The iPhone 12 has a smaller version called Mini and is basically as small as the current iPhone SE (here is why I don't recommend that phone), while the iPhone Pro comes in standard and Max editions. I personally think the iPhone 12 is really the best and most improved phone as compared to its predecessor, and will be the best seller. For similar reasons as the SE, I don't think the iPhone 12 Mini is a good option, and I think the iPhone Pros are a bad value, and a very small improvement compared to iPhone 11 Pro. The only thing they have speaking for themselves is the bigger screens and a slight price decrease. Here are all the models and their prices as of today in New Taiwan Dollars.
iPhone 12 Mini (5.4", 5 color options)
64GB: 23,900 NTD
128GB: 25,500 NTD
256GB: 29,000 NTD
iPhone 12 (6.1", 5 color options)
64GB: 26,900 NTD
128GB: 28,500 NTD
256GB: 32,000 NTD
iPhone 12 Pro (6.1", 4 color options)
128GB: 33,900 NTD
256GB: 37,400 NTD
512GB: 44,400 NTD
iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7", 4 color options)
128GB: 37,900 NTD
256GB: 41,400 NTD
512GB: 48,400 NTD
Last year's and before last year's models are still being sold:
iPhone 11 (6.1", 6 color options)
64GB: 19,900 NTD
128GB: 21,500 NTD
512GB: 25,000 NTD
iPhone XR (6.1", 6 color options)
64GB: 16,900 NTD
128GB: 28,500 NTD
You can compare these prices to the last year's iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro prices. The iPhone 12 got around 2000 NTD more expensive as compared to the iPhone 11, but same price as the iPhone XR two years ago, which is interesting. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro models are 2000 NTD cheaper as compared to the iPhone Pro 11 models. So they increased on the mid-end phone (the best seller) and decreased on the high end phone. We'll see how this strategy pans out.
They just reported that the iPhone 12 were sold out in Taiwan within 45 min of opening the preorders. Wow!
